ASUS:
ASUS VX7SX-DH71 imo is my better choice due to its good reviews, great customer service, quality, and low prices with reasonable specs. But they do lack upgrade options like different GPU's where you can only have the default GPU they provide in many laptops. Anyways, with Asus im having few problems with their brand, they tend to last long and maintain performance (from the reviews i've found). ALso is the GTX 560m 3gb better then the gtx 460m 3gb?
Can anyone suggest which one i should get? Price doesnt matter to me you can even suggest a 10000$ laptop if you'd like
Make sure that, if you get the Alienware M17x, that you upgrade to the 1920x1080 display. Do this before you consider getting any other upgrades.
Don't, under any circumstances, get the 1600x900 screen if you get the M17x. It's a terrible resolution for a screen this large and has no place in a $2800 laptop. It makes text and everything else onscreen really big and makes it so you can't fit very many windows onscreen at a time relative to the screen size. The screen resolution is the biggest limiting factor for the usability of your computer. It makes more of a difference than any other configurable spec because it affects everything you do.
Plus, not only is the resolution limiting, most 17.3" 1600x900 screens have bad image quality since they're budget-grade screens. These are the worst type of screens available in 17.3" laptops.
2) Consider downgrading that 580M to the 6990M. The upgrade cost for the 580M isn't justified for the small performance gain over the 6990M. Plus, some users have reported throttling with the 580M, which means the 6990M may actually perform better.
